About me
Hi, I’m Aljaž.
As a kid I was often drawing, pencil in hand and paper everywhere. Photography came later in high school. I’d spend hours outdoors photographing wildlife. Somewhere along the way I realised it can actually be fun to work with people too. Today I photograph families, couples and individuals, and getting to know them is my favourite part of the job.
I like to work outdoors rather than in a studio. I love places that already have a story: a mountain meadow, an old stone town, a quiet forest path. Nature or other artists shaped them long before I got there, and they make every photo feel like it belongs somewhere.
During a session I’ll guide you, but gently. Instead of stiff poses, I’ll give you small things to do: walk towards me, look at each other, or something a little silly to make you laugh. Then I let things unfold and photograph what happens in between. I’m a positive person, and I want you to leave feeling like you spent an afternoon with a friend.
Kids are always welcome. I talk to them the same way I talk to adults and include them in the conversation. I also turn the session into a game, so it feels like playing instead of posing.
I photograph in Slovenia and Japan, and I’m finishing my degree in photography this December. When I’m not behind the camera, I’m repairing cars, drawing or hiking. There’s nothing better than a hot tea or coffee on the porch of a mountain hut at the end of the trail.
I’d love to hear about you. Let’s plan your session →
